This is the weekend I have been waiting for all summer. Returning to WORCS. It has been a long time since I was able to get out in the Benchmark Bullet and fly. It was a hot weekend, I took to the track on Saturday to practice and see what I had ahead of me. It was a fast fun track, all the good stuff. We were going up Talladega and taking on the REM section of the extensive areas that Glen Helen has to offer. Practice went flawless, I ran the track for a consistent 25 minutes. I headed back to the pits and me and my dad decided to make a few changes. Sunday would come quickly, I woke up to the song Milk and Cereal which always makes me laugh. It was early, the weather was crisp I headed to staging, I was starting on the second row, this has been a tough year for the family, losing my grandma in May prevented me from attending a couple of races, I was just thankful to be back. Travis Sallee WORCS Racing Round 6 Race ReportI watched the flag man intensely as he pointed at each one of us. Count down 3 – 2 – 1 and I hit the throttle pulling away from the rest of the pack I would sling shot around Talladega. It was good to be back behind the wheel of the Benchmark Bullet. The track was awesome, I inched closer and closer to the leaders as I took each lap I was about 14 seconds behind 1st place. Then disaster struck, I caught a rut and ended upside down. Determined to get back after it, I begged for the track guy to quickly flip me back over. When he did my throttle body came loose, I could hear Jorge Llamosa tell me wait Travis, as he tried to reattach the filter to my car. Jorge and Beau worked hard on my car to try and get me going until my dad could make his way over to help, unfortunately it was the end of the day for me. Racing has to be one of the funniest things I have ever done. I was very thankful to Jorge and Beau for helping me especially because they had their own horses in the race. I want to be a professional Race Car driver someday, and I want to use what I have learned these past few years to help me be successful. Thank you all for your support.
