May 12, 2019- Palmdale, CA- Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! We headed to Los Angeles County Raceway early on Sunday morning to race round 4 at The Dirt Series. There was a last minute track change due to very bad weather and mudslides in California City. After we arrived, I took my car through tech and then got ready to run a few practice laps. I have never raced at LACR MX, but the track looked like it was going to be a lot of fun. After running practice, I felt confident and I was excited to race. I went to the driver’s meeting and got the schedule for the day. The UTV Open 1000 class was race number 6 in the line-up, so after racing started, I watched a few of the races before mine.

There were 8 cars in my class, and when it was our turn, we all headed to the line for moto 1. The flagger waved his hand in the air, signaling that it was go time. Then, the green flag flew! We all took off, headed for the first turn. I got the hole shot and kept my foot on the gas as we headed out on to the course. This course had some steep hills and awesome jumps. My RZR RS1 was handling the course perfectly! There was also a really cool whoop section that my Elka Suspension rolled right through. I was able to stay in the lead for the 7 lap race and crossed the finish line in 1st place!
After going through the race line-up, it was our turn to race moto 2. I picked the same spot on the line, and as the flag flew, we took off! I got the hole shot again and stayed on the gas as we rounded turn 1 heading out on to the course. I was having so much fun racing around the track, and I really loved the finish line jump too! This time, the race was shortened to 6 laps and as the checker flag flew, I crossed the finish line in 1st place! I brought home the overall 1st place spot for the day!
We are prepping my RZR RS1 for WORCS round 5 this coming weekend in Mesquite, NV. I’ve heard this is a tough course, but I am up for the challenge!
