The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) brought the show to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona for Round 2 and the “Duel in the Desert”. With seven different divisions, LOORRS’s Production UTV class features one of the largest fields of nearly 20 racers making it one of the most exciting and a fan favorite. Brock Heger scored a Round 2 3rd place podium finish in the #1 plated Yamaha Motors USA / Weller Racing YXZ 1000R retaining the Production UTV points standings.
Heger also races in the Pro Lite division and was hoping to improve his Round 1 7th place finish. "I am ready to get back in the Maxxis Tires / Icon Suspension Pro Lite this weekend to better our performance from Round 1. The Truck is looking good and ready for some racing." Brock started fast with the third quickest lap times in Practice Session 1 and only .282 seconds off the pace. For qualifying, Heger kept the momentum and was again 3rd fastest of the 16 truck field.
For the Production UTV Practice Session 2, Brock was 2nd fastest and .216 seconds off the pace. Heger went onto qualify the #1 Yamaha YXZ 1000R in 2nd with a lap time of 41.262 during Lap 2. Everything was going according to the plane, Brock explained, "The weekend started out good putting together some solid laps in practice and qualifying. We usually struggle in Arizona, so to come away with P2 & P3 was good and gives us a great starting position.”

The Production UTV Race went off without a hitch. Heger’s rapid qualifying run put the #1 YXZ 1000R near the front of the field in the second row. Brock was able to get a clean run and maintained position with the other race leaders to earn a second podium of the year and sustained the Production UTV points lead. “I am happy to walk away with a 3rd place podium in the Yamaha YXZ 1000R, but the bad luck hit again in the Pro Lite,” described Heger.
“I had it all going just the way it was planned. We got a good start, kept position and made some quick passes to the front by Lap 4. After I passed for the lead, in Turn 2 it all went bad. We broke a gear/driveshaft and had to pull out. The #12 Maxxis Tires / Icon Suspension Truck was hooked up but our night ended early. The Pro Lite was fast, and I was just getting in a groove, started clicking laps off, and win a race. I guess that will have to wait until the next one.”
You can catch Brock next on May 4th, for the Best In The Desert Silver State 300 where Brock will race his Method Race Wheels 6100 Desert Truck. Then the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will host Round 3 & 4 at Estero Beach for the 5th annual Rockstar Energy Battle South of the Border on May 18 in Ensenada, Mexico.
