CAN-AM MAVERICK X ds 1000R TURBO
The Maverick X ds 1000R TURBO side-by-side features a newly revised, industry-leading 131-hp Turbocharged Rotax 1000R engine, increasing its lead as the most powerful production side-by-side vehicle ever. The Maverick X ds 1000R TURBO, which won the prestigious Best In The Desert Mint 400 race in its first year of production, is popular with riders everywhere. The rear shocks have revised settings to improve the ride in demanding terrain. The X ds package is also available with the normally aspirated 101-hp Rotax engine, and is available with many new colors this year.
PERFORMANCE
UPDATED 131-hp Turbocharged Rotax 1000R V-Twin engine w/ high-flow design (TURBO only) The industry’s first factory-installed turbocharger has been revised for 2016 to increase its existing class-leading performance to 131 horsepower and also enhance its torque curve. Adding larger injectors, increasing boost pressure and recalibrating the CVT are some of the significant updates. An electronically controlled wastegate automatically adjusts boost pressure for optimal performance in any conditioning and even maintaining full performance at altitudes up to 5,000-ft. An air-to-air Intercooler with integrated fan ensures cooled air flows to the engine, even in the most demanding conditions. The larger high-capacity injectors ensure a better fuel delivery and provide an optimal air/fuel mixture to improved performance. The TURBO is also mated to a high-flow air intake and Donaldson air box that has been positioned close to the engine to create maximum airflow. The air box and filter setup is made for high airflow capabilities to meet the Turbocharger’s demand for clean, cool air. The plenum efficiently manages turbo-compressed air to obtain optimal performances.
101-hp Rotax 1000R V-Twin engine (non Turbo) The 976cc, 101-hp Rotax 1000R V-Twin engine powering the normally aspirated Maverick X ds 1000R supplies reliable, thrilling power for both recreational and racing applications.
UPDATED CVT with Quick Response System (QRS) (TURBO only) The CVT system was recalibrated to meet the increase in performance for 2016. The Quick Response System (QRS) now includes an updated driven spring and the drive pulley roller levers were also enhanced. The QRS system allows for even better power transfer and faster engagement time while also reducing friction for longer belt life. The CVT ventilation has strategic inlets and outlets and a specific impeller design to create more cold-air flow moving through the pulleys.
High-flow dynamics The Maverick X ds 1000R is built around that concept starting with large intake plenum and high-flow heads working together to optimize the air going to the engine. Efficient combustion is achieved by joining large valves to a high compression ratio. A high-flow, dual exhaust completes this powerful engine design.
Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC™) The electronic throttle-by-wire system works in conjunction with the 54 mm Bosch® throttle body to produce a smooth delivery, even if the driver’s foot is bouncing due to rough terrain. The iTC system, which includes a progressive ECO™ and Sport modes, detects unwanted bounces and filters the input. Low gear on X ds TURBO models is aggressive and more linear.
HANDLING
Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) rear suspension with 16 inches of Travel The innovative Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) rear suspension system offers a full 16 inches (40.6 cm) of travel to provide a smooth, predictable ride.
