Dirt Roosting Redefined
The Wildcat 1000 answered the call for pure-sport UTV enthusiasts nationwide in 2012. Purpose-built to conquer trophy truck-sized Baja whoop sections with the utmost of speed, precision and control, the Wildcat 1000 is unmatched with an industry-leading, 5-Link rear suspension, 13 inches of ground clearance and a whopping 18 inches of suspension travel!
CHASSIS
If the 951cc engine is the heart of the Wildcat, then the chassis is its soul. The full perimeter frame is an industry first on a mass produced vehicle. The High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) exoskeleton frame has gone through extensive testing to withstand the excessive loads sent through the chassis via the massive suspension travel.
With a 40 front/60 rear weight distribution, the front end remains light for better chassis dynamics when tackling gnarly terrain at high speed. Occupants in the cockpit of the Wildcat are located near the low center of gravity (CG). Since the entire vehicle pivots around the CG, the occupants are more comfortable and confident while driving because they are less affected by the movements of the vehicle while the chassis and suspension are doing their jobs.
SUSPENSION
Suspension capability was the number one request from any consumer asked what they’d like from a Pure Sport ROV, and the Wildcat has answered their demands. The front and rear suspensions of the Wildcat are a work of pure engineering brilliance. No other 64-inch wide ROV can claim to maintain wheel geometry through its full range of travel.
An industry-leading 17 inches of front and 18 inches of rear suspension travel is smoothed out by Walker Evans Racing shocks. Designed from a lifetime of off-road competition and experience, these shocks feature single compression adjustability with a remote reservoir and dual-rate springs. Completely machined out of billet and made in the USA, these Walker Evans Racing Shocks have the ability to push the Wildcat harder, for longer, than any other ROV on the market. The ride-in suspension gives improved comfort and traction to flatten out the biggest whoop sections.
The Wildcat’s rear suspension rivals most offroad race trucks with a first-ever 5-pt multi-link trailing arm system that keeps the contact patch of the tire flat while the suspension fully cycles through an industry-leading 18 inches of travel. The 5-pt multilink reduces camber and axle plunge to soak up the harshest terrain while allowing the Wildcat to have a lighter chassis because all the links work together to soak up the loads.
ENGINE
Arctic Cat engines have power where it matters: the ground. The V-Twin, SOHC, liquid cooled, 951cc, Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) fourstroke is built for massive torque and serious arm stretching power via an equal length, 2-into-1 tuned exhaust that is ceramic coated. Arctic Cat engineers crafted this torque-tuned motor for the ultimate performance via an all-new air intake system and 50mm throttle bodies. The close coupled, mid-engine configuration allows the occupants to have more room while reducing cockpit noise.
VARIABLE ASSIST ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS)
A first in its class, Arctic Cat’s Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS) allows steering assistance to the ROV before it even starts to move at idle. This is a huge benefit to conserving the driver's input energy when in 4WD, and especially when the differential lock is engaged. Arctic Cat EPS will reduce the torque necessary to steer the ROV when changing direction or navigating tough obstacles like washouts, rocks or mud.
The variable assist system is driven by an electronic control unit (ECU) that measures steering input force versus tire resistance and vehicle speed then provides appropriate assist to the steering column through an electric motor. The Arctic Cat power steering ECU program is designed to maintain a light steering input effort, but maintains enough feel so you have a better understanding of what the tire contact patch is doing in relation to the terrain. Arctic Cat EPS will keep the driver and the ROV connected which is lost on competitive units after sustained riding.
INTERIOR
Every high performance vehicle is defined by the area the driver spends the most time – the interior. With the highest performance in mind, Arctic Cat stylists set out to create the ultimate in comfort starting with the high back bucket seats with upper body supports that would rival any aftermarket suspension seat available. The cut and sewn design cradles the Wildcat occupants, reducing fatigue. The 3-point seat belt with elastic top band has an anti-cinch design to keep you in place through the harshest terrain.
Getting in and out of the Wildcat is unbelievably easy with tube frame doors with integrated nets to compliment the exterior lines. Pivoting from the rear and latching at the front via a simple one-latch mechanism, the doors open quickly and easily and fall out of the way to provide a hassle-free entry/departure. An infinitely adjustable tilt steering wheel allows you to adjust your steering preferences and an all-new left hand passenger grab handle is easy-to-grip.
A 5-inch digital/analog round gauge provides great visibility with its mid-dash location while improving your outward vision during driving. A locking glovebox aids in easy storage of cell phone, cameras, hats and other valuables, while two cup holders placed forward of the shifter ensure your arm doesn’t hit them while driving but remain easy to reach.
PREMIUM FEATURES
The Wildcat is rich with premium features starting with five painted color choices: black metallic, green metallic and orange metallic, while the Limited models are also available in vibrant red or white metallic/orange with color matched seats and front and rear aluminum bumpers. Classleading LED headlights and taillights shine bright; compared to an HID, the white light projected from the LED is clearer, and the Lumens are two times brighter than a halogen system while utilizing 50% less wattage.
The rear cargo bed has the largest capacity in its class with a 300 lb. payload to carry a cooler and a gerry can of gas. The transmission has a parkin-gear shifter with Reverse, Neutral, High and Low gears while the 2/4WD/diff lock switch is easy to locate on the dashboard. A 12V accessory outlet is located in the center console for GPS or cell phone adapters.
