The team from Osborn Racing is back home from the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV November 7-8 and what a weekend it was! On Sunday, Ryan Beat battled the #801 of Corry Weller side by side on the last lap placing 2nd in the #851 SR1 Rhino.

The team moved in Thursday afternoon ready to race with the HRT Motorsports prepped #851 SR1 Rhino and the #588 Modified 450 Kart prepped by Full Tilt Trophy Karts. At Friday’s practices and qualifying, the sun was shining over Las Vegas and the jets from Nellis AFB were flying over head.

Up first was the #851 SR1 Rhino with Ryan Beat in the driver’s seat. This was only the second time the #851, formerly known as “The Flying Bananaâ€, had been out on the racetrack since the SR1 Rhino conversion for Osborn Racing. Beat was in top form as he took it around the track getting it sideways in the corners like it was a Pro 2 truck. Beat posted 1:23:385 in lap 1 and took it back in the pits to crew chief Kenny Frost for a few minor adjustments. Later that day before the sun began its decent over the racetrack, it was qualifying time for the #851. As Frost secured Beat in the seat of the SR1 RHINO and headed out to the track, Team Osborn headed for the stands. They watched intensely as Beat dominated the track finishing with the fastest qualifying time and a pole position for Saturdays race.

Next up on the schedule was practice for the #588 Modified Kart of Bryan Osborn. Crew Chief Cameron Anderson took Osborn out to line up for practice and headed up to the hot pits. Osborn posted the 3rd fastest time on lap 13 posting a 48.243.

As the sun went down and the lights came on, the team began getting things ready for another exciting day of qualifying and racing on Saturday.

The #588 Modified 450 Kart headed out to the track early Saturday for an 8:00 AM qualifying run. Bryan Osborn took control of the wheel showing little restraint qualifying 6th place for Saturdays Main just a few short hours later. Saturday’s race began with Osborn on the starting grid in 6th position holding steady until the mandatory caution, eventually making his way through the pack up to 3rd. A few laps later the #588 clipped a hay bale and Osborn was sent on a wild ride rolling once through the air and landing upright. With a bent 4-link and body parts flying the #588 was able to go one more lap before it was done, finishing in 12th place.

With the sun directly overhead it was Ryan Beat’s turn to head out to the track for the UTV Main. Sitting in the pole position the green flag dropped and Beat put it all out there on the track. The tires went away and he rolled through the hot pits for adjustments coming out in last place. When it was all over he finished 4th in his class, 7th place overall in the #851 SR1 Rhino, frustrated and not where he wanted to be for tomorrow’s race. The team at Osborn Racing spent the rest of Saturday getting the SR1 Rhino and the Modified 450 Kart race ready once again for Sunday’s events. Finishing up, the winds kicked up and few rain drops began falling and it was time to call it a night.

The final racing began Sunday morning with the #588 of Bryan Osborn in the Modified 450 Kart Main. Osborn started deep in the field moving up to 7th place on lap one and into 6th on the second lap holding position until the mandatory caution. Running 7th and eventually getting tied up with another kart in turn one he finished the race in 8th position. It was a disappointing finish for the #588 but Osborn is already looking forward to next weekend at Glen Helen Raceway for round #7 of the Short Course Series.

The final race of the weekend for Osborn Racing was for the #851 SR1 Rhino of Ryan Beat in the UTV Main. Beat was starting in row #4 on the inside in 7th position. By the time the mandatory caution flag was waved, Ryan had made his way up to 4th. When the green flag dropped Beat dominated and made his way quickly to 2nd position with one thing in mind, passing the #801 of Corry Weller. On the last lap, Beat and Weller were battling it out for the lead, Beat at one point passing Weller. When they came through the last turn heading for the finish line it was side by side action but Weller was able to hold Beat to a 2nd place finish.

On the podium accepting his trophy, Beat said his goal was to run a clean race and not get in the way of those who were in the points standings. He thanked his sponsors and Osborn Racing for the opportunity to drive the #851.
