We had the #1 start position but lost it early in the speed zone as 4 cars said screw it and blew past us. I guess it's a strategy that paid off.....have to think about that one. It was the first race in the new car Eric at Rockstar Customz did an absolute amazing job. It had everything you want or need in a race car. Still this was the first race and hardly any rest time on it....literally 2-3 hrs on everything. The plan was to get the car to rm 200 in a decent position for the Rock Star Lacrecia to take it to the front at least to RM 360if not to the finish line which I was confident she would do given a decent car.

This tracking was accurate.....that was the roughest 200 miles ever in difficult conditions. I never had a decent car to race till this one. We ran into 1985 stopped on the Mtn before Summit and bent front shock over. Ran it to rm 70 then passed a bunch of 12 and 1600 cars I wasn't sure what was going on never saw utvs I expected. We had issues on the front end that hindered steering and clutch was hammered early limiting speed to 60-63 but the car is so amazing it just pushed on and I can honestly say we didn't scrub much speed except on top. We ran almost the whole race in 2wd. Not sure what's up w the diff but the car didn't seem to mind. I would never drive the pink car in 2wd I'd roll it for sure...We had a great crew and I never got out of the car for all the mayhem which is a rare thing.

My favorite part of the race was being one of the first ones to pull the big dick move of cutting to the front thru the brush and watching all the other utvs including the normally polite Jagged car doing the same. For the record it was only a dick move to the buggies cuz I let Jagged in front of me out of a sense of UTV comraderie. Can't say that about some of the other competitors. No names but one car was adamant not to let me in and forced me behind 5-6 buggies....we were racing close all day and I thought she might have been a little more gracious but it was a free for all I guess. However, several of the utvs banded together in a impromptu way and jointly pushed up.

Final thought goes out to the family of the injured and deceased. I talked to a chase truck at RM 185 that had their buddy dead in the bed of the truck. Was devastating reality check.

I'm just sorry I couldn't deliver the car to Lacrecia to let her work over the front runners but I did my best and just too many gremlins and support considerations late in the race. Next time she will run first and the pressure will be on her...:) image.jpg

George, what new car blues did you have? You said front end issues? What ultimately ended your day at the 200 mile mark?

I saw where you said no flats. Overall what was your impression of the tire/wheel combo you ran compared to the others you have run in the past?

I think you need to find out where the speed zones really are. From what I heard you were kindly doing 37mph on a wide open section of Highway leaving town. Not all Highway sections are speed zones let alone 37 miles per hour there was only one of those on the start and it was going down a dirt road for a very very short time.
If you were expecting someone to let you in front of them In a log jam you are crazy. It is still a race and thinking that you can drive through the bushes and someone would just let you back in line because your a fellow UTV is crazy. You should have been up in the front pack with the Turbo cars. I went from 1st to 10th in one move and nobody was letting anybody cut back in. There was a lot of middle fingers out the windows and hitting going on and we just sat back and watched it go down. People were flat out losing their minds and it was only mile 30 in a 500 mile race.

I second that! I went from 3rd to about 12th in the jam and watched everyone bang up their cars at RM 30 lol.

Your right I thought about that too and wondered why they were going 45 -50 not 60 and already bunched together. The last minute changes were confusing. I was told that all highway sections were now 37 mph so was our bad. As far as the logjam we all moved as close up as we could I just wanted back in with the car I had been chasing who I believe also moved up. I let Jagged in because they had been in front of me as well. Jagged must have thought I had lost my mind letting them jump in....:) Actually other utvs were "helping" each other and pissing off the buggies no doubt.

Either way it wasn't a big deal no one was sure what to do......it was just part of the race why it's called a race report. . I think was Sims took the hill on his own didn't wait and pissed the locals off but more power to him. I didn't walk the area but wouldn't be surprised if there was a way around for Utv.

One other note I'd like to add....I was the most confident I've ever been in any race going in with this car even though wasn't debugged but I had the best crew chief in Eric Beurrier. I felt I had as good as there is in the game and after this race I'm sure if it. The whole crew gave 110%. In those crazy moments of chaos making repairs I just watched like it was on fast forward. Holy Cow! I've never seen that before I was thinking are they even bothering to put the bolts back in? I made the mistake of zigging when I should have zagged and cost us valuable time to make repairs. It's a learning experience every time and you look back and think if I had just done this one little thing different. Of all 4 Baja races I've done I learned the most on this one.

Yeah well they don't sponsor me like Method so I'm not sure they're worth it. Method didn't have their 32" ready so I went to plan B. Everyone else had ITP so was just being a rebel.

But I agree they are light and with that comes a price. Rocks are hard on tires and wheels so you really need to be strong there....:(

No shit???

As already stated, they are tall and light. I have always been curious how they would work on a UTV.
I don't want to trash any product but we ran Lobos and was down to our last tire at V2R. We ran ITP then Tensor Regulators and they have been my favorite tire because they're durable in rocks. We could have used more tires this race but their very expensive wish I had the Tensors I never needed more than 4.

You felt the Tensor was more durable than the Ultracross huh?

Thanks for having us along George. Sorry we didn't get a better finish for you. We all had a good time and always learn something at every race.
