Some months ago we were contacted by Safari Jeep Tours in Sedona, Az. to outfit their rental fleet of XP1000's with the R2C filters we offer. They had been going through filters like candy due to the incredibly dusty conditions found in Sedona. They felt that using a filter that was more efficient and could be easily serviced would be the way to go.
They really liked the results they were getting, but due to the incredibly dusty conditions they found themselves having to service the filter constantly adding to labor cost. They also had complaints about how dirty the cover and housing for the CVT was getting and they thought having pre-filtration would add to the service life of the drive components.
We run our XP1000 in similar conditions and had found that the pre-filter boxes were just not sealed well enough to be effective. We had been testing pre-filters added directly to the intake tubes for the engine and CVT and we liked the results.
Off went a kit for Safari to test.... We knew that the kit would absolutely help, and the feedback was impressive. Now instead of having to service the main air filter daily they were able to let it ride and only had to service it at their regular 50 hour oil service interval. Their techs loved the fact that they could easily check and maintain the pre-filters in minutes saving a ton of labor for the entire fleet.
Adding pre-filtration to the CVT side was also impressive. Prior to installing the pre-filter they were constantly servicing the CVT drive system to keep it clean due to the heavy accumulation of dust and dirt. Not only did this add to their labor cost it was surely reducing the life of the belt and drive components. The system is now kept much cleaner, again reducing labor and component cost.
The Pre-Filter kit includes high flow oversized outlet dry element filters by R2C. The filters we chose are 94% efficient which compares to gauze or foam elements but do not need to be oiled to achieve that efficiency. They are reusable and are easily serviced by blowing them out with compressed air. The kit includes all of the thin wall aluminum adapters, seals and hardware for a complete install.
If you're looking for true unrestricted pre-filtration for you XP1000 this just might be the kit you should consider.
