I'm thinking I want to go with a 31"x15" all terrain tire for my 4 seat RZR 1000. These tires will be used in the hard pack. What does everyone like to use? What are your thoughts for using 31" Toyo Open County's? Please tell me the pros, cons, sizes and life span you get out of the tires of your choice. Do I have to worry about tire weight and any potential suspension or steering component issues with too big of a tire? Thanks in advance!!!! - Shaun

Open Country's are a nice looking tire but they are heavy. Spinning mass matters. I suggest going with a tire made for UTV's like the Mongrel, new BF Goodrich KR2, ITP's or similar. 32's sound great but they likely will not measure an actual 32". Good luck.

The 31/9.5r15 Toyo AT 2 only weighs 40 lbs per Toyo's website. That is less than the 31" Motohammers which weigh 41.8. The 30/9.5r15 Toyos weigh 37 lbs which are right in there with most of the new UTV specific tires as far as weight.

Another good option as far as light truck tires go is the 30/9.5r15 Yokohama Geolandar MTs which also weigh 37 lbs. It is the lightest 30" light truck mud terrain tire I have been able to find. The 31 in that is 10.5 wide though so it gets a lot heavier at 43 lbs.

I agree they are a tough tire and I was seriously considering going to a 15" rim and a light truck tire. I just got off the phone with Method and the 14x7 401 weighs 14.2 lbs and the 15x7 weighs 18 lbs. The BFG in a 235/75r15 weighs 40 lbs. That is a heavy combo.

Dezert are you running a clutch kit?

Ya I have a clutch kit. They are only 4lbs heavier than any other 15" wheel and 30" tire combo. just did a 220mile run with no issues. One of the other guys went through 3 mongrels, and tensor tire.

Yeah they are right there with all the other 30/15 UTV tires. I just didn't realize that a 15" wheel weighed that much more than a 14". I'm concerned about losing too much power and I don't like the idea of losing the sidewall either.

Actually I thought the same thing but only lost a little off the bottom end. With the reflash and clutch kit it still has plenty of power.
