I am building a dual purpose flatbed for my Ford. The plan is to build a 9 foot deck with a slight dovetail.

So I took my stock off and swapped it for a service bed that did not fit. I sold the service bed and bought a flatbed. So far I have spent $50 out of pocket.

All the brackets are drilled and welded to the bed. Next step put the bed back and the truck and drill all the frame mounting holes.

i like it. you need some under bed storage bins and a fuel tank for toys. dont forget plenty of d-rings to tie down stuff, onboard air, service lights to work on stuff at night and a fold out awning for hot days.

The plan is to have storage boxes along the bottom and the dovetail to open as well. Something similar to this without spending $3500. The size I have designed will fit a long travel Teryx 4 with 31" tires.

We dropped the bed back on the truck. I ordered the hardware today and will bolt everything up tomorrow. The chase will be modified to become part of the bed.

Looks Great Rusty, You need the weight of a T4 (1600 Lbs.) to make that truck ride nice.....Trust me I have a 97 PSD and its ride unloaded is harsh.

Or maybe I'm just getting old.....I think its the old thing. Lol

On my 97 f250 I did a solid axle swap, reverse shackle kit, and 99-03 superduty front spring with 10" fox shocks and that truck rode amazing. It was well worth the work involved. Those OBS trucks are my favorite next to my current 08.

The rear of the truck was very rough when I drove it without the bed. The flatbed is much heavier than the stock bed so it helps smooth out the ride. The plan is to add a shackle reverse kit and soft ride front springs.

I like your thinking Rusty!

I'm always thinking about what hauler would be best. My problem is I have a dually and I can't go too long or I can't pull my 5th wheel. At least I need clearance.

I like the looks of Bobby V's rig!

Man, you have it made, a woman who can weld!

Tie down storage box. I am using CAD to layout the sheet metal. Cardboard Aided Design is a garage builders best friend.
