my pleasure ...I am grad that they are trying to make this A Friendly family event. But two spectator spots are you kidding me. What happen to finding A nice safe spot on the side of the course away from people and enjoy the event with your family. Instead we get some government wonk telling us to stay in A controlled area packed in with a bunch of people like cattle in A grazing area. I will not be attending. Just my 2 cents.
P.S. Thanks For your service to this Country!
I remember I bought a Ford Ranger 4x4 in 1983, and fab'd some suspension, seat mounts, and prepped that bad boy for the races! The best memories were spectating the 1984 Mint 400, when It ran north of Las Vegas. We pre-ran the 100 mile loop in search of the best vantage point, WITHOUT hassle or flack from BLM-anybody. Talk about gnarly silt beds, whoa!I'm really glad to see score come back to the US with races. Unfortunately desert racing isn't the same anymore after certain events and liability issues now a days. I miss the days of just going out and finding a good place to watch.
Wow!!!!! Reid I just realized who you were. You are the second half of Rick & Reid. Now I'm showing my age.I can speak with authority on this one since his is the truck Scott Mc M bought to our shop in '89 when they decided to go truck racing
Now you've done it. You let the cat out of the bag ! Hey, was I as unpopular then as I am now? Uh-oh, seems like I can hear Dana Carvey's "Grumpy old Man" character chiming in here.........Wow!!!!! Reid I just realized who you were. You are the second half of Rick & Reid. Now I'm showing my age
The Monster Mav (1905 ) will be there!hey but no confirmed racers yet?
As of this post, I believe there are fewer than 75 entries total. It's kind of a lot of coin to pay for a little bit of racing, and now SCORE is cutting miles like BITD does. Although it is nice not having to mix it up with the TT's and such, I think that the majority of the desert racers would go the full distance, if offered to do so. If we'd wanted to run sprint races, we could have built a WORCS car!hey but no confirmed racers yet?
Yeah we had been planning on pulling the 5/1600 car out to race it. We have done a ton of upgrades (One of a kind rear trailing arms, micro stub hubs, new cv's, custom axles, new front lower arms) and were getting close to being ready. Then we saw the entry fee, cost of tracker, renewing our memberships and fuel. Then since we have not raced the car the last few years, Score wants to re-inspect the chassis, so there's another $275. So when all said & done it was going to cost us around $2700 just to take the green flag. Oh I forgot we took the gear box in for a freshen up and found out we hurt it the last race. So that was $3,000!As of this post, I believe there are fewer than 75 entries total. It's kind of a lot of coin to pay for a little bit of racing, and now SCORE is cutting miles like BITD does. Even though we are not racing we will still be down there watching. FUD / MDR pulled about 80-100 entry's and that was enough to have a good time watching. It sounds like Score is putting allot of effort in to make this as spectator friendly as they can, even though they have closed the desert and are limiting spectating to two locations.Damn! I've got family coming down to watch the race, but if there's not gonna be very many entries, I might tell them it's not gonna be worth the drive! What a bummer!
Funny. i was quantifying it the same way! The race is still 3 weeks away. There should be at least twice the current entries. It's a points race for SCORE after all, so most all of the guys racing for the championship should be there. Missing out on the 20 points to start a race would put the front runners back at least 5 positions. So plan on at least Vildosola, Tim Herbst, and Rob Mac to show in the TT's. Guarantee you the X guys will be there fighting for their points. C'mon GF. If you don't show, that means I'll only have 3 fans attending! Although the viewing areas are limited, They are on one of the most exciting parts of the course. This is a bummer. I had high hopes for this race. I am not sure what it costs to race a UTV but based on the numbers above, it works out to around $17 a mile to race.
