i am ordering skats and smoothies for my Maverick very soon and need some beadlocks to go with them.

one option is to find a set of stock XRS beadlocks and mount up the tires.

or go with Hiper sidewinders, $$$$ are they worth the money? lightweight?

or go with OMF billet centers, i like the width adjustability and can buy new centers if i bend one.

or go with Douglas ultimate beadlocks

any other recomendations or thoughts? i want to shop at the SSSS and looking for good deals.

so cal
OMF. or stay out of the sand. only thing we need in johnson valley on the dirt is arm skid plates for the rocks. and the occasional spare tire. plugs and slime onboard also.

jk. sand is fun, we just dont make it out there enough. we love OMF wheels. good luck on your purchase.

IMO the Hipers are hard to beat for weight AND strength but they are pricey. I bought a complete set of Maverick rims & tires and then sold the tires, so my beadlocks cost me $25/ea.

I also weighed the stock sims with beads. They are super light under 10lbs

Hey Mike Save your money on the Bead locks and get some light weight Spun wheels. I really don't think you will need the Beadlocks in the dunes no matter how hard you drive one cause if you have a bead actually come off a rim out there you probably have Bigger problems to worry about like Broken Parts, so a bead off a Rim wont be a worry at that time. LOL

I got the speech yesterday from Tim about not needing bead locks. I think its more mental than anything, I will worry about drifting and rolling a hire off.

Besides, bead locks make you look cool. Haha

hipers all the way. had them on my rex and are super light. also if you damage a wheel shell you can buy just the shell and rebuild the wheel.

i picked up some red label beadlocks from .50 Caliber racing at the SSSS. They weigh less than the Hipers and are 1/3 of the cost too. I had them powder coated and painted the bolts to match my Maverick.

Beadlocks may make you look cool and all but that heavier spinning mass will make you the last one to the top of the hill...lol. Warlock is right Beadlocks are not necessary in the dunes. Go light and go fast....

There are beadlock rims available that are lighter than many cast alum rims. So I would rather be safe with a beadlock and run lower pressure.
