There were 39 total starters.
Class breakdown:
18-unlimited(16.67% finished)

6-production 850(50% finished)
2-production 700(50% finished)
1-stock(100% finished)

Overall 43.59% finished in the 2012 UTV race. In 2011 37.5% finished. The 2012 main race only had a finish percentage of 36.57%.

I'm hoping next year they make the race about 100-120 miles. Two laps, 50-60 miles each. Rock difficulty was fine. We blew up the front diffs on both vehicles during prerunning, and fixed them the night before the race. No issues at all on race day. I also hope the course marking gets better, it SUCKED for about 4 miles after jack north.

Chris,

You must have been using an early list that had me as a DNF. This was corrected later on Thursday evening and posted at the Ultra4 tent. Unfortunately, we have not seen an official posting on the Ultra4 website.

Jon Crowley - Overall #4 and 3rd in Production 1000

Here is a video of our Hammers adventure. I'm still trying to digest the whole thing. It was amazing!

Heres my KOH utv race recap. First of all thanks to utvunderground.com for all the coverage and Mike Lasher of sxsperformance.com for an awesome course and pitbull tires for the big check! . 3 weeks before the race it was a thrashfest night and day to prepare the car. Thanks to my friend Bob Schwendenman and Son or it would have never happened. My son and I arrived on Saturday morning and got the gps download. With Bob in his rzr 800 and Dean kirk, we took off and preran the first 50 miles of the course. Right then I knew the course would be good! I really liked how there was alot of desert and tight roads. That gives everyone a chance to get out in front or pace themselves before the rocks. I went home on sunday, my son had to be in school , It gave me a chance to look over the car. We found 2 bent 300m axles and have no idea why. So Bob, Mitch Jr and I changed them out to 4340 axles. I went back on tuesday to finish the prerun for the last 30 miles. Everything went really smooth on the prerun, I tried some different tires in the rear and the car came alive! right then I knew it was on. Race day came and we were feeling very confident, everything was falling into place. We ended up starting drawing 7th out of 39 off the line, We entered the unlimited class in a production XP900 to hopefully get closer to the front which seemed to work. The flag dropped and we got the hole shot, I said to my son what kind of pace should we run? He said fast but conservative, dont take any chances its a long race. I said ok . We were fighting dust right from the start and driving into the sun, luckily Mitch jr is awesome with the gps and calling out the course so we drove a little blind for a while, We got to race mile 8 or so and another car came flying by me on the right side and I said we need to go! Right then Mitch Jr called out hard left. We turned and never saw them again. From then to mile 20 something we were blinded by the dust. We caught and passed a couple cars but were being careful. About a mile from the lakebed I look in my mirror and Casey Currie was right on my bumper, I had no where to go as there was a car in front of me. I knew the lakebed was only a couple turns away and we could out run him. We got to lakebed and I dove to the far left because the wind was blowing to the right and we passed 2 or 3 cars, the xp900s are faaaast! I looked down and we were at 75mph. From there it was one more car to go to be in the lead. We stayed conservative and ate his dust for another 8 to 10 miles until I saw his rear lights. By then I knew we were coming into Martell a small rock canyon, and I know the area well so i waited until a sharp corner where you enter it and dove in on the inside and passed him. Clean air! we then set a fast steady pace knowing we were in a good position. From there it was alot of pedal to the floor whooped out wide open desert which my car works great in. We then hit the rock trail Elvis which we had no problems on. We kept a good pace down it as I knew we could create even more of a gap. From there was an area that has huge G outs for miles so we slowed our pace as to not rip the front off the car. We then came into our first pit around mile 54 where Bob gassed us up. From there we were off to fissure mountain and Jack north. This area is fun, but you have to pay attention as there are alot of sharp rocks and drop offs. As we were going down jack North I was talking with my son and we were having a blast! He doesnt know the rocks very well yet, so I was showing him how to get through rocks and how to pick lines. After we got through there the car still felt great, so we started really picking up the pace for the last 10 or 12 miles as we had no idea where anyone else was. We got to the last lakebed and were at full speed when a truck and trailer were doing about 20 mph in front of us and there was no way to get around him so we slowed as there were dirt mounds and bushes. From there on we could smell the finish line and everything was good. We came into the last fast sweeper before the finish and my car wouldnt turn, come to find out we had a flat front about a mile before the finish line but made it!!! Congratulations to all the competitors that raced, its a brutal one.
I want to thank all my sponsors. Without them I couldn't do this. Thanks to Polaris, Pro Armor for all ther support, Seats, belts, skidplate, bumpers, doors and slam latches.
