Joey,

Where is the full write up on this thing? pretty sure you knew about this thing back when you made a trip to their manufacturing plant. Get any seat time? The underground getting a test unit?

This is just hearsay from another site but they are estimating around 110hp.

Saying that this new motor possibly is a different tuned version of a motor Honda is using in a adventure bike called the Africa twin or dual Africa, i don't know something like that.

Again just hearsay please don't shoot the messenger if i am wrong lol

Honda has always had great platforms. Just look at there sport quads, on the show room floor they are nothing that special at all. But if you add in a long travel setup and some other aftermarket products then you have a quad that has dominated for over 20 years. Only time will tell about this new SXS but it does not have a belt and comes with a 6 speed paddle shift tranny. Did I mention the 6 speed tranny...........

You know the sport market is where Honda is going. The R&D investment to build this new platform will not be payed back with just the sales of this new Pioneer. They have to have other models in the works? My guess is this is the perfect model of vehicle to put their new powertrain in and get long term results from. Looking at how companies like Honda & Yamaha have done things in the past, I'd expect when they do come out with a sport machine for it to have proven parts and to be successful right out of the box.

IMO I think the reason Polaris has been able to release new machines, yet have so many issues is because they are the King of the Sport SXS market. We as consumers are willing to take the defects and shortfalls of Polaris Engineering to have the best machine on the market. 2011 XP900 front a-arm geometry and behind the seat heat issues, fixed in 2012. 2014 XP1000 belt issues, fixed in 2015. 2015 Xp1000 front dif noise issues. You cant argue that both Honda & Yamaha's fit & finish of their products are much better them what we see out of Polaris. I'd expect Polaris to have to up their quality once these two players enter the SXS Sport market. If not Polaris could be battling for 3rd in the Sport market rankings.

Totally out of the loop.. I get the info when its emailed to me.. "rumor" says 1 year on the Honda sport.. I have heard that for 3 years so take it with a grain of salt. We are certainly closer.

And a 1 year warranty. US that a industry first?
Good point.
It continues to amaze me how patient Honda has been for how many years now both in this segment and with their atvs. It's a nod to their culture and frankly their knack for building what apparently a lot of people really desire. I feel that the 50" Pioneer was worth waiting for and this just as much for an all around machine reminiscent of the first Rhino. Ironically, a sport machine at this juncture would just be icing on the cake.

They were smart to wait and see in '08 (with the crash and repeated disaster elections) how the regulations would shake out and where the inevitable '1000' (subconscious threshold) market would take us. Now they are ideally poised to sit and wait while, as Nikal mentioned, their next workhorse drivetrain is tested and (hopefully for them) a trump card is laid down after their competition has played their next hand (or the one after that).

As Blue Coyote alluded to; they just (most likely) dominated the entire non-hard core UTV segment 3 months before launch with no price offered. That's early Rhino/Rzr territory and perhaps good enough for now...or until those still saving can someday then afford the ultimate(?) big bore sport machine. The former statement above might receive some argument yet the latter for a lot of people is the focus.

If I'm saving for a UTV right now?...I'm sleeping a lot better knowing that Honda finally showed me the (bulletproof?) future in this segment.

Hey Chris how is the motor they are using, is it a good one for performance mods. SOHC that controls exhaust valves and Bucket followers on intake. Its not a high Rpm motor is it. can you make it do some good numbers.
