the mapping software sucks ... cause there is none now .... it is the off road GPS of choice for allot of the big boys ...
and you can add Sirus XM to any of HDS ... if that maters to you

A lot of people have gone away from the HDS5 for off road. While the HD units are great GPS they are not really that great in anything smaller than a 7-10". The 5" screen is really hard to read. I would recommend looming at the Lowrance Baja Elite 5M. It's a solid unit made for marine and off road use. It has an intrn antenna and also comes with an external remote mount puck style antenna. I highly recommend it.

For desert racing I would go larger...but for recreation use I think the 5" is fine. I am running the prior unit in my r1 rhino.
most of my concerns guys was the fact that this is a M model....originally designed for marine use ........stick it in my boat ?? lol but i have heard they can be used on land too but wanted someone elses take on that
