I wasnt throwing Matlock under the short bus .. I was saying my race cars are all built in house and in some cases in less then a couple weeks start to finish so they cost a bit less then most peoples builds .. we do 95% in house from sheet metal, Chassis, wiring ect
Johnny just cause you are doing 95% in house dont make it free....you still have an overhead labor rate. Just like you we do everything in house and i cant even begin to count the hours that go into building a car....much less prepping it.

id say 3 out of this group will podium

1921 Angal
1932 Schueler
1908 Lambert
1927 Wilson
1905 Burnett
1942 Mc Farland
1971 Matlock
1904 Sappington
1917 Murrays
1961 Rhaders
We're doing the race with just 2 drivers. Seems like most teams are using 3-4 drivers....Anyone else with just 2 or possibly doing an ironman? Lets talk about that for a minute..........

If marc allows anyone besides himself behind the wheel in the 1000, rest assured it would be a household name more than worthy of the task at hand. Unfortunately, marcs driving ability, nor logistical savvy will be enough to compensate for the void his team has been suffering through this season. There is no replacing massive hours when it comes to preparing a vehicle for desert racing. He's having a hard enough time making the starting line, let alone seeing the finishing one. Johnny not withstanding, Marc can still smoke most any one else in his class, in equally built vehicles. Funny shit Moneybags . No doubt in my mind the conversation you posted was verbatim. That's classic marc talk right there. Of all people, marc should know that you are only as good as your last race..oh thats right, he missed the last race or two. I haven'forgotten my obligation. just give me the holidays.
How's horsepower been treating you? Did you scare yourself yet*

If I was back in the program, he wouldn't be having BBQs and missing races, and his program would not be running in reverse. I'm over it. I'm a union jack now. I do however miss handing out spankings in this forum.

LOL no I have not scared myself yet and the truck is beyond what I was expecting, suspension, power, handling, its all just unreal to me at this point ... I went out this morning to the Geiser Loop with Rick Geiser, I drove a couple of laps and then moved over to the holy shit seat so I could see how the truck really works and fuck me we fly down a shit road with these 3 foot off straight line bumps/jumps in it at 80 90 mph across stuff that whould have ate my RZR alive and he was just smiling and making tiny adjustments to the steering wheel it was unreal running over 10" tree branches and rocks and and and just unreal

Tell me about it. I now work in a union shop, and have never seen so many lazy fucks in one place in my entire life. America's prosperity and opportunities are a thing of the past. Between the politicians, law makers, and the self-entitled pricks who represent our future, the fabric of our lifestyles have been irrevocably torn. Haha! Don't you all just miss the BAM!

This is why those guys at RCD call 1900 class "golf carts".

Very cool hearing your experience in those. I'm about 99.999% sure I'll never get the privilege of driving one.... I left .0001% chance of winning the lottery still in there. :) Keep hope alive.

He would definitely be in a better race position if you were still helping his program....As last minute as you made yourself look on the forum you still got shit done...half the time I figured you were sand bagging us about being 80 hours behind and showing up to tech 1/2 hour before it closed...

At this military check point near Colonet were they asking for tourist visa cards?

A little recon from a Jeep trip 2 weekends ago where we happened on the course by accident a few days after it was ribboned:

Santo Tomas to Erendira fast as always, a few burned in corner cuts but they are silted out/torn up and main line should be faster. Erendira to Colonet Camalu area same, (we cut through town into wash from pit area on coast so missed a few miles there but the Pollo Enchiladas were worth it!) fast but rain has caused some G outs/ruts so be on your toes... they creep up on ya but the edges should be knocked down by all the prerunning. Per the locals it rained pretty good days before. We also skipped the part where it ran through the farm fields... FYI, lots of cattle grazing so be smart!

We also did Mikes to El Coyote to San Telmo and it rained a bunch there the week prior. Lots of mud, rain ruts and washes were torn up pretty good and per the locals it hit south to El Rosario as well and an ex-pat said that section had a lot of flooding for what it's worth. We also heard the same for the southern San Felipe side @ Coco's but no conformation.

FYI the southern military check point near Colonet was very focused and went through everything in almost every car and it took a while and we were in light traffic. Make sure your stuff is in order, they seem unusally vigilant there...

Be safe, Viva Baja!

For all the tough talk "this sport isn't for everyone" and "maybe you should find a local series" btw I thought was funny.....you know who you are. It appears no one is doing this race solo in a utv just bikes and quads. I know many of the winning motorcycle teams over the years were just two riders so why not the top utv teams?

We have just 2 drivers....one is the oldest guy in the class. So I don't wanna hear about how tough the sport is. You can tell each other that when your shopping together for new outfits before the race and having your toes done.....haha! :)

Seriously, I have a lot of respect for anyone who goes to race in Baja regardless of what they run and that includes the chase teams etc. The challenges start before you cross the border and only intensify from there. Broken down in the middle of the night with no one around seeing another broken race car looted and then the looters patrolling around like their not too worried about it is a little spooky. Hassled by police, one bad taco, and no sleep now that isn't for everyone. Good Luck to all that are going and I hope whatever happens everyone comes home in one piece.

Cause motorcycle overall times are about 25 hours and a utv is about 35.... but like every one else said... Marc will solo it...

I hope Marc finally has a good race......25 hrs vz 35 hrs seems irrelevant given motorcycles are so much harder on the body compared to a utv.....actually there is no comparison. Motorcycles are downright brutal on the body. You can hardly pull the clutch in after 200 miles and every muscle group is wanting to cramp. The seat hardly gets used if your riding it right. Maybe when the class gets big enough there will be an ironman class......Im too old but your not..:)

You have a point also. But, the talent level of the very few pro riders comes few and far between.

Hopefully more like 22 hours for overall UTV. I think there are more teams doing it with two drivers than you think George. But no since in bragging about it, we are sitting down the whole time anyways.
I spoke with Marc last week and he was on the fence if he was even going to race because of his foot injury. If he does race I doubt that it would be solo given the injury he has.
